Caringal was originally a logging station and had a single rail track leading into it.  Half the site is owned by Scouts Victoria and the other half is Crown Land that Scouts Victoria lease.

We have 5 cabins that can accommodate from 2 to 28 people.  In addition we have over 45 campsites, of which most can easily accommodate 2 caravans.

Nestled in a quiet opening we have a consecrated Chapel that is very popular for Weddings and vow renewals - packages are available

The site is run under the Scouts Victoria Code of Conduct

We do not allow horses on the main camping grounds but can accommodate riding parties by request.

Whilst we welcome motorcyclists and trial bikes we do not allow the riding of bikes on the the main site

There are a whole range of activities both on and off site and the Warden can give you help and details.  Click here for some suggestions

We welcome dogs at Caringal but they must be on a lead or tether at all times and not left unattended.   We know you love your four legged friends  but dogs are not allowed in any of the cabins - except for assistant dogs

There is a lot of wildlife that live on or visit the site and we ask users to respect them and not to hurt or threaten them. This includes allowing dogs to chase or harass them ... or worse.

Anyone found annoying or allowing their pets to harass the wildlife may be asked to leave

Be aware that we do have cheeky Kookaburras that will happily steal your food along with families of goannas that come down, mostly on a summer night, to raid kitchens.  Keep food in sealed containers at all time.

Occasionally, as in any bush area, a snake may make an appearance.  Keep away and advise others to do the same, especially any dogs.  The nearest vet is at least an hours drive away.

We have a new team of Wardens at Caringal as of the 5th December 2020.  Cate will be there to meet and greet you and make you welcome during your stay.

We get here as often as we can. Great location, amenities, stunning river and bushlands.

Stayed here over the Australia Day long weekend, Sam was more than helpful over the weekend. Great big sites on green grass also with shade from the trees. Kids went kayaking and swimming in the tyres river, rode around on bikes, went fishing and just enjoyed themselves. Highly recommend this place

Absolutely beautiful natural environment, perfect for camping or staying at one of the cabins here. Great facilities and loads of bush-land to explore. Perfect for kids too.
Extremely relaxing getaway with a feel of being totally immersed in nature and being completely away from the daily grind!
